I feel at peace with the dirt...an inexplicable attraction between us. If not for water and blood and muscle and nerve fiber, the dirt and I would look very much alike...kindred and sister spirits of sorts. I can sit in the dirt, covered in what some might find offensive grime, and relax...letting all my worries sink deeply through my feet to deposit in the soil. I consider this the most sacred art of recycling...to let Mother Earth take upon her shoulders those burdens too heavy for me to carry and transform them into beautiful acts of nature.
The dirt listens to me without ever uttering a word. It patiently awaits with chasmic arms, ready to embrace me at any moment of any hour of any day. It doesn't care if I am grumpy or lonely or sad...the soil knows the value of it's companionship.
I'm totally the same way, give me a lil dirt to play with & alls good! Not sure what it is, but water play & dirt play are always the bestest to get me outta a bad mood. Just wish I made more time for those things on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteCherry tomatoes ... Firecracker-100 if I am not mistaken. Mmmmmm.

ReplyDeleteYes, I too, enjoy the comfort of a good body of water...maybe that's why I've always chosen to live on the coasts in the States.

I'm not a gardener... in fact, anyone who gives me a plant pretty much assures it a gruesome death. I do try though...
ReplyDeleteMy love is to have my hands in slip or clay up to the elbows. To create something out of wet (sometimes liquid!) mud and have it last for generations is such a kick!
You feed me and I'll create chachkies for you. :)

ReplyDeleteI have never done pottery, but I can just imagine the wonderful "release" of the clay in the hands...I hope you continue to find the "calm in the clay"...

You'd probably like this scent by Burt's Bees. It's called Tomato cologne. I know! It sounds horrible but I smelled it once and it smells like a garden. It's earthy like dirt (but not in a bad way) and smells just like a veggie garden. Weird but interesting. I also smelled a cologne once called "Dirt".

ReplyDeleteI will definitely have to check that out! Thanks...
